do not discard evolutionary theory until simon can put forward a better alternative, it is a tool for understanding rather than a belief and the beauty is in the simplicity, I would be surprised if it was 100% right, as with all results of human consciousness. natural selection can only select from the genetic material available including mutations, so either dinosours didn’t have much genetic material to provide a big brain, or else the big brain gene in dinosaurs didn’t confer a competitive advantage on those possesing either from other linked characteristics or because of environmental conditions. Of coursse we don’t know wheter a big brain is the most effecient brain, if we only use a small percent of our brain then increased usage should be more of an advantage than size. So we cxould be looking for quality or frequency of electrical signal or quality of proteins used in synapses or most likely combinations of such characteristics. science will never replace mystery totally, but that doesn’t mean we should get rid of such a tool until we have a better one.
